Usually you visit a museum merely to see what’s inside. With the Tate in St. Ives it’s a little different. Of course the exhibitions were fantastic – particularly the sculptures downstairs – but in this case the location and building were just as nice as the art inside. For starters, the museum is right on the beautiful Porthmeor Beach of St.Ives. A popular artist spot, because of the perfect light (nice and soft) and fantastic scenery (surfer waves, blue skies and green rolling hills). And then there’s the building. A round, modern white piece of architecture that matches the shape of the round tank that once held fort at this very same spot. From the outside it looks quite small, but once inside you get lost in a maze of rooms, passageways and little stairs. Perfect to spend an afternoon. We loved it!
