We like our beaches deserted, but that inevitably means it takes a bit of a hike to reach one. Like the trip we regularly make to Cala Boquer on Mallorca – one of our favourite islands, as you can see here, here and here. It’s our perfect piece of paradise. But shhh, don’t tell everyone ok?
To get there, follow the road to Pollença, a coastal town that’s perfect for an evening stroll along the old boulevard on the left side of town. Take a left before you enter town. Follow the sign that reads Cala Boquer and park your car in the tiny parking field where the road ends. Take a basket filled with water, Ensaimadas (Mallorquin specialty pastries topped with sugar) hiking boots and your swimming gear and follow the path upwards that leads to a beautiful old farm. Once there, enjoy the views over the valley and daydream about living there…
Pass through the old garden gate and continue the path that will take you through the Tramuntana valley. You will pass mountain sides covered in bright green moss, fields filled with yellow Scotch broom, refreshing streams and goats climbing the steep, vertical rocks. The hike will take approximately 45 minutes and will end on a beautiful rocky beach. If you’re lucky you’re the only one there and you can skip your bikini or trunks…
[…] Maybe not the best hike for flowers, but a beautiful one that ends in one of our favourite beaches. Big plus…there’s hardly anyone ever there. The hike is very pretty and goes through a beautiful valley. Check out our story here. […]
