Another highlight in Death Valley: the Mesquite flat dunes. Even though the area looks small, you can walk around for hours if you want to, following the sharp lines of crescent dunes further into the desert. You might be surprised by a sand storm, scrubbing your face and legs. Or even feel rain drops from a shower on the other side of the valley, carried to the desert by the wind. Bring water – lots of it – and plant yourself on top of one the dunes. Enjoy the warmth of the sand, the colors of the mountains in front of you and the fast-changing clouds above your head. Wow!
