As you can read here and here, we LOVE Terschelling. Especially off-season it’s the perfect escape for some peace and quiet (and those empty beaches for long walks).
This Dutch Wadden Island has got it all: beautiful cycling routes, amazing endless beaches, hiking paths through stretches of dunes and cranberries. In fact, Terschelling is known for its cranberries. According to an old tale a sailboat once lost its shipment. The barrels washed ashore and the person who found them thought it was alcohol. He was so disappointed when instead of booze he found loads of dark red berries that he started to throw them around. Thanks to his rage, cranberries started to grow and we can enjoy lots of delicious cranberry cakes, pies, drinks and souvenirs on the island. So yes, make sure to plan you lunch stop at the Bessenschuur en take a cranberry mug home with some…cranberry tea.

So nice to see articles about the Netherlands! We saw many places already, but Terschelling is still on the Bucket list! Just went to Ameland 🙂
Thanks! All the Wadden islands are beautiful! Vlieland and Terschelling are our favourites, though.
