Some cities in India have that special energy. Streets are filled with colors, little stalls sell…anything you can think of and internet shops pop up on every street corner supporting the 20-hour economy. In Varanasi, the atmosphere on the streets is a bit different though, and I think that’s all because of the people. Salesmen, beggars, sadhus, yogis, laundry men and the women selling fruit all have that peaceful gaze in their eyes. Maybe it’s because they just bathed in the sacred river Ganges or offered it some orange flowers or pink rose petals during prayers. Maybe it’s just because they are happy no matter what. Spend a day on a street corner to watch as hundreds of people walk by. We didn’t get bored!
