I remember Belfast mainly from the news in the nineties. Riots, fights, bombs. And even though it’s been quiet for a while, traces of this past are still visible everywhere you go. Murals cover houses with political messages. A gigantic wall divides two neighborhoods from eachother. And flags on street lights send out political stand points. As a visitor it’s very impressive to see all this. And yes – as real tourists- we wrote a message on the wall, hoping it will add to the positiveness. Of course Belfast has moved away from its troubled past and is now an upcoming city break destination with pubs, musical venues, organic lunch places, shops and museums. One museum in particular is very special and a must-see: The Titanic museum that will open its doors this spring. But more about that tomorrow.
P.S. book a guided Taxi tour in Belfast with Harpers Belfast Taxi Tour. We loved it!
