I’ve been to Delhi quite a lot and one of my favorite things to do is visit the different markets. Of course there’s Old Delhi with a thousand little streets – each with its own special goods – selling bridal saris, gold jewelry, shoes or books. And a little further you can sneeze your way through the spice market where red pepper, saffron and ginger take over all your senses. But my favorite neighborhood remains Hauz Khas. This place is known as the fashion district where local (mostly traditional) designers make and sell their stuff. You’ll find the most amazing golden saris, decorated with sequins, stones and gold (sometimes real!) But there’s also a lovely boutique on your way up to TLR cafe. Shopping done? Go watch the sunset local-style from the fort in the park right behind the shopping streets. Don’t forget to take some nice samosa’s with you!
