Bonaire is a diver’s paradise, but if you don’t have your PADI, there is another way to enjoy the magical wonders of the underwater world: snorkelling. You can snorkel basically from any beach and will probably see beautiful things, but if you want the best of the best, make sure to book a trip with the Woodwind Sailing Boat. This 37 foot trimaran sailboat takes you to Klein Bonaire, the small uninhabited island off the south shore, where you can enjoy the most amazing corals, fish in every colour of the rainbow and if you’re lucky….turtles. The crew of the boat is very well trained and knows a lot about the marine life on Bonaire, so chances are you see some crazy things while in the water.
Our guide took us to three different spots, where we saw beautiful coloured corals, angel fish, baracudas, turtles and lots more. But when dolphins started following our boat on the way back we knew it truly was our lucky day.
(If somehow, you’re afraid to go into the water, there are lots of places where you can spot beautiful fish right from the shore. At Boka Slagbaai you’ll see Parrotfish with their metallic blue, green and purple colours right from the sand. Beautiful!)
