One of the things you must see when visiting Yellowstone NP: the Grand Prismatic Spring. It is so beautiful and a true wonder of nature. Just like West Thumb Geyser Basin this is a hot spring area, but with even brighter oranges and blues. The blue is in fact so azure that if posted on instagram you would suspect someone really oversaturated it, but no. This is real. As are the yellows, golden en coppery browns and oranges. The boiling water and steam add a mysterious feel to the place and with the beautiful surroundings you can imagine how it must have been when people first stumbled upon this amazing place. Did you know it is the largest hot spring of America? It’s also the deepest – 37 meters – which makes it even more impressive when you look at it.
Like we advised before: try to get here early so you can really enjoy this natural wonder before the busloads of tourists arrive, or plan your trip right before summer starts.
