Polignano a Mare is another beautiful coastal town in Puglia. This place couldn’t have been closer to sea; the houses are built on top of twenty meter high cliffs! Cross the Roman bridge into the old part of town where you’ll get lost in cool alleys with white narrow houses and hand painted stairs. Order an espresso in one of the small cafes, enjoy a healthy lunch (tomorrow we will tell you where to go.) Enjoy the magnificent views from one of the three panorama balconies or catch the sun on the popular (and sometimes extremely crowded) town beach. Oh, and if you wonder why the song “Volare” is stuck in your head: Domenico Modugno, the writer of this international hit was born here and the song is played in almost every bar in Polignano a Mare.
