As you can read here, here and here…we fell in love with Puglia. The food, the scenic drives, the wine and the uh…food, are amazing! Even better was the hotel we stayed in on the final days of our trip: Masseria Torre Maizza. Remember this name, because this is definitely a place to put on your bucket list. The main building used to be an old farm (masseria), but is now the reception area, bar and terrace of this luxury escape. The fresh white walls are overgrown with bougainvillea, and you can see grapes and lemon trees everywhere you look. The rooms – little white blocks that border the beautiful golf course – are spacious and decorated with cream furniture and natural elements. The restaurant – an open space with a roof – serves the best local food. From juices made from fruit from their own garden at breakfast, to the famous orecchiette at night. You might as well book a table in the morning, stay for lunch and leave late at night after a dinner with one of the best local wines (Primitovo anyone?). Our favorite spot: the pool. If you ask me, this place would do perfectly on the cover of Vogue. The fresh blue water, the walled garden with pink flowers and the hammocks in between the stone columns. Ah, perfection!
P.S. Just when we thought things couldn’t get any better, we were invited by the cook for a typical Puglian cooking lesson. More about that soon!
