Nevada Falls is twice as high as Vernal Falls and the path towards it twice as steep. The trail is a little less misty, but again with a huge waterfall and a steep climb. Once you reach the top you have amazing views all over the valley and of Half Dome, something we will definitely come back for. It’s when you go back down again you can choose different hikes. We opted for the John Muir trail (named after naturalist John Muir). This is actually a path that runs 340 kilometers in the Sierra Nevada mountain range of California. We only hiked a small part of it from Nevada Falls back down to Vernal Falls. Unfortunately the trail was closed, so fortunately we were the only ones doing this hike. Nice! Especially the first part where you hike past a gigantic rock wall, spitting rocks and water sometimes (probably the reason why this path was closed). Further down the muddy zigzag route takes you through the forest right back to where you started. Damn, if only it didn’t do that, we could still be there…
