If you’re looking for that perfect romantic escape, we know exactly where to go: Bruges. This cute little Belgium town – a Unesco World Heritage Site – has got everything you need within walking distance. Antique dealers, restaurants, museums and lots of shops (they even have a Christmas shop that’s open year round if you plan to do your Christmas shopping here in summer.) With its beautiful canals it is often called The Venice of The North. Of course the hotel is usually the most important ingredient for a romantic escape, and so we decided to stay in the Hotel Die Swaene. This small but luxurious boutique hotel is the perfect place to stay on a long weekend in Bruges. The whole look and feel of the rooms matches perfectly with the medieval atmosphere of the town: antique furniture, soft colours and beautiful art everywhere. We loved sitting in the window sill with a good book, watching the boats pass by over the water. And even though the rooms are cosy and the beds very comfy, don’t miss breakfast in the lovely restaurant across the street. A must-do while you’re here: a boat trip on the famous canals, but more about that later!
