In and around Leh we visited the most beautiful monasteries and one thing I like in particular are the prayer wheels. These prayer wheels are cylindrical wheels on a spindle you can spin round and round. The wheels are decorated with lines of prayers, so turning the wheel is the same as saying a prayer. Some monasteries even have a whole wall of prayer wheels you can easily turn by walking past them and sliding your hand over each one of them. Like the beautifully decorated one at Thiksey Monastery just outside of Leh. But you can also find man-high prayer wheels that need all your power to turn them, like the one in Lamayuru. I particularly love the hand prayer wheels, the one that fit in your bag and can be bought at every stall. Jule!
