Driving from Denver to Yellowstone in one day is close to impossible, especially when traveling with a gigantic RV and a family. Before we left we looked for a place that was sort of halfway and found a campsite in Wind River Canyon. It turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. The canyon is gorgeous, the campsite (Lower Wind River Canyon) really nice and quiet, with amazing views over the river. Because it was spring when we visited, the river was very wide and very wild, meandering through gigantic rocks. The train track on the other side with a tunnel disappearing in the mountain made it almost look like we traveled back to the Wild Wild West (something we actually did a few weeks later in Colorado!).
