An Argentinian traveler once stood on a rocky shore of Mallorca and knew his globetrotting days were over. This place was so beautiful, he wanted to stay and build a hotel so all his friends – mainly artists and poets – could enjoy it with him. His name was Adan Diehl and he opened Hotel Formentor in 1929. Today, the hotel still holds its glamour and allure. Old pictures in the massive dining room tell a story of how much people enjoyed this place. Of course the bathing suits were bigger, the dresses longer and the hats much more elegant, but to this day people come and feel the joy Diehl must have felt when he found this place. If you’re not staying in the hotel, make sure to go there for lunch or dinner and take a stroll through the beautiful garden. We loved the vegetable patch where mangos, tomatoes and lots of other veggies are grown to make sure the menu is fresh and organic.
