When you’re a non-golfer be prepared to be turned when you visit the Santa Barbara Beach & Golf Resort. This Old Quarry Golf 72 par course is named after the marble mines and I can’t imagine a course being more beautiful than this: Fresh green grass draped like a soft blanket over the land, cactuses that stand like sculptures on the roadside and then an amazingly turquoise sea in the background. I loved the tour in the little cart, the small meandering path leading us from hole to hole. One high up on a cliff, another hidden behind a group of rocks.
We hit a few balls on the driving range and discovered that a: playing golf is maybe not our biggest talent, b: the grass is quite soft in this area (sorry) and c: hitting a few balls in the middle of the hot day was maybe the reason we weren’t as good as we hoped (and we can’t blame our coach who was great!). Hopefully we can try our hand on golf again one day, and hopefully we it will be here again!
